January 27, 2020 – Colorado’s energy assistance program, Energy Outreach Colorado, has provided 1,000 low-income households with weatherization assistance. The assistance is provided by Colorado’s Affordable Residential Energy (CARE) program.
“We know that there is much more work that needs to be done to ensure that there is equity for those struggling to afford some their most basic human needs,” stated Jennifer Gremmert, “This past year, we received over 150,000 calls from people seeking urgent assistance with their past-due energy bills.”
The Colorado CARE program offers weatherization assistance to low-income households in rural areas in 40 counties. Eligible households may be eligible for benefits such as air sealing, insulation, furnace replacement, replacement shower heads and EnergyStar refrigerators.
