MO Utility Pledges $2.9 Million in Energy Assistance

July 24, 2012 -- Ameren Missouri has donated $2 million to Dollar More, which provides energy assistance funding to 39 agencies across Missouri, including the United Way.

In addition to donating to Dollar More, Ameren Missouri has also donated $600,000 in energy assistance funding to several agencies throughout St. Louis city and county that are not affiliated with Dollar More.

Ameren Missouri also this month donated $200,000 to Missouri military families in need of energy assistance and last month donated 600 air conditioners (valued at $100,000) to agencies throughout Missouri. The agencies later distributed the air conditioners to low-income individuals and families, including elderly and disabled customers, throughout Ameren Missouri's service area.

Customers who are in need of energy assistance can use the online Agency Assistance Finder to find a list of agencies in their zip code. They may also call Ameren Missouri customer service at 800-552-7583 or the United Way at 211 or 800-427-4626.

Customers who want to support the program can check the Dollar More box on their utility bill. One dollar is added each month to their bill to help fund the program. All donations go to families who need assistance in the Ameren Missouri service area. Every tax-deductible contribution assists Ameren Missouri customers through a network of human services agencies. The United Way of Greater St. Louis and Ameren Missouri share the administrative costs for the program. Therefore, 100 percent of all donations benefit individuals and families in need.
