June 21, 2019 – Ohio’s Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) is now available to income-eligible residents that are in need to utility assistance this summer. The HEAP program offers help paying electric bills or assist in purchasing central air conditioning units. Residents who wish to apply should schedule an appointment with Hocking Athens Perry Community Action (HAPCAP) to sign up.
Ohio also offers a summer crisis program to low-income households that have vulnerable members, including household members 60 years-of-age or older, or households that can provide physical documentation proving that cooling assistance is vital to the health of a household member. If an applicant qualifies for the Percentage of Income Payment Plan Plus, they may also be eligible to receive assistance in receiving an air conditioner.
