June 26, 2024 — The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Administration for Children and Families (ACF), Office of Community Services (OCS), Division of Energy Assistance (DEA), has announced a third round of funding for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) in federal Fiscal Year 2024, which ends September 30, 2024. Congress appropriated these funds through the Further Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2024 [Public Law (Pub.L.) 118-47)] (FCAA). The FCAA provided the final budget for FY 2024 and was sighed into law by the President on March 23, 2024.
The second release represents 100 percent of funding appropriated by Congress. According to the Dear Colleague's Letter, grant recipients "Recipients must obligate 90% of their total FY24 award by September 30, 2024 and may carry over the remaining 10% of these funds to be obligated in FY25."
