Annual Low-Income Energy Conference to be Held in Kansas City, MO

May 30, 2014 — The National Energy and Utility Affordability Conference (NEUAC) is set for June 18-20, 2014 at The Sheraton Kansas City Hotel at Crown Center. NEUAC is the premier event for anyone concerned about energy assistance and low-income households.

NEUAC brings together people from nonprofits, government agencies, utilities, and other institutions that provide energy assistance and efficiency to low-income families. Participants engage in peer-to-peer educational sessions and hear from national experts about programs and policies to help low-income consumers meet their home energy needs.

This year's conference will feature over 40 workshops with two plenary sessions. Additionally, Dr. George Askew is the featured keynote speaker during lunch on June 19. Dr. Askew is the chief medical officer for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Administration for Children and Families. He will discuss how access to LIHEAP can improve a family's health status.

The two organizations that had traditionally sponsored NEUAC (the National Fuel Funds Network and the National Low Income Energy Consortium) successfully merged in late 2013. This new entity, the National Energy and Utility Affordability Coalition, is sponsoring NEUAC this year.
