October 30, 2019 – Ohio’s Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) Winter Crisis Program will begin on November 1, 2019 and operate until March 31, 2020. The program assists eligible Ohioans who have received a utility service disconnection, have been threatened with a utility disconnection or have a bulk-fuel supply with less than 25 percent of fuel left in their tank.
Eligible Ohio applicants qualify if they have signed up for the Ohio Percentage of Payment Plan Plus (PIPP) plan, or another payment plan—as well as having an annual income at or below 175 percent of the federal poverty guidelines, received the utility disconnection notice or have the less-than-25-percent amount of bulk fuel in their tank.
“Our winters can be harsh, particularly in Northeast Ohio, and this program helps people heat their homes safely without needing to choose between basic needs like heat, rent, medications and food,” said Executive Director Carrie Dotson.
Ohio’s HEAP program assisted more than 825 households in 2018.
