October 5, 2018 – Louisville, Kentucky’s Resilience and Community Services (RCS), is accepting pre-registration applications starting Oct. 31. Households without vulnerable members can begin applying Nov. 5; however, all applicants must schedule an appointment to apply.
Brandon O’Neil, LIHEAP Supervisor in Kentucky, said, “We are dedicated to help our residents here in Louisville Metro. We want to make sure that they have the ability to keep their lights on during the cold winter. Often times they're having to decide between medications and food and keeping their LG&E on.”
In order for a household to successfully submit an application and receive a benefit award, they must bring the following items to their scheduled appointment: proof of household income, a social security card and a current electric bill. Contact your local LIHEAP office or administering agency here to learn what required documentation is needed to apply, as requirements may differ among states.
LIHEAP in Kentucky assisted more than 23,000 residents in 2017. Nearly 9,000 of those applicants applied during the pre-registration period.
