The National Fuel Funds Network and National Low Income Energy Consortium invite interested persons to submit proposals for workshop and general session presentations at the next National Energy And Utility Affordability Conference (NEUAC) to be held June 27-29, 2011 at the Marriott Harbor Beach Hotel in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
NFFN and NLIEC partner in presenting the largest and most comprehensive event of its kind in the United States to address the need for affordable home energy and other utilities for low-income households. NEUAC participants represent nonprofit and government agencies, utilities and other institutions that provide utility and fuel bill assistance for families in need, energy efficiency and weatherization services and consumer education.
The moderated workshops fit into any of seven tracks, which in 2010 included energy availability and sustainability; weatherization and energy efficiency; energy assistance and education; energy policy and advocacy; serving vulnerable populations; energy programs in Indian Country; and utility and fuel programs.
Workshops typically run 75 minutes, including a question-and-answer period and involve two to three presenters. General sessions may be either 90-minute, moderated plenary sessions or 30-minute luncheon addresses. The intent of each workshop and general session is to provide valuable information for energy assistance professionals and build national awareness of energy poverty.
NEUAC 2011 marks the first time the partnering organizations have gone beyond the traditional planning process to solicit workshop and general session ideas. All suggestions will be considered along with ideas gathered at the conference planning meeting, proposals that already have been submitted and session suggestions made by attendees at NEUAC 2010 in San Antonio, Texas.
All proposals will be evaluated by conference co-chairs and track leaders. Submission of a proposal for a presentation does not guarantee that it will be used at the 2011 conference.
Interested persons may suggest an entire session (or part thereof) by submitting a form for each session proposed. Each should contain a title and a two- to three-paragraph description explaining how the session would address issues facing low-income energy consumers. Include name and contact information for all suggested speakers.
Responses should be submitted electronically no later than October 15 to either George Coling at the National Fuel Funds Network or David Fox at the National Low Income Energy Consortium. They may also be sent via fax to 703-916-7850.
