Kansas Ratepayer Funded Energy Efficiency
One utility has been donating money to the weatherization program since 1999 in amounts of $125,000 to $150,000 a year. The utility said that it is increasing that amount to $350,000 in 2006 and will add $50,000 each year through 2010. A homeowner can receive up to $3,000 for repairs that include caulking and weather-stripping; repairing doors and windows; insulating walls, ceilings and floors; and repairing air conditioning, furnaces and water heaters.
