The state of Utah has extended its LIHEAP, called the Home Energy Assistance Target program or HEAT, through the month of June. This is the second extension of the program, which normally ends April 30.
The HEAT program is administered by the State Energy Assistance and Lifeline office through a statewide network of local community-based organizations.
To date, more than 45,000 households have benefited from the program. To participate, a household must earn 150 percent or less of the federal poverty level, which is $2,757 per month for a family of four. On average, a household receives about $500 per year through the program.
