May 11, 2018 – The month of May is “Community Action Month,” and Iowa’s Community Action Program, The Northeast Iowa Community Action Corporation (NEICAC), is celebrating serving low-income Iowa residents for the past 53 years. Iowa’s NEICAC serves the counties of Allamakee, Bremer, Chickasaw, Clayton, Fayette, Howard and Winneshiek.
A few highlights of Iowa’s NEICAC LIHEAP assistance in Fayette County alone include: 1) 177 households assisted with utility vendor negotiations. 2) 859 households provided with energy conservation education. 3) 145 households assisted utility crisis assistance. 4) 27 homes weatherized.
The NEICAC provided 861 families with supplemental payments to energy providers through LIHEAP, 1,938 of those household members were Fayette County residents.
