August 28, 2020 – Nicor Gas in Illinois is offering utility bill payment assistance through their COVID-19 Bill Payment Assistance Program. The program, operating through Nicor Gas, announced that they still have more than $4.5 million in bill payment assistance remaining for utility customers amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
Nicor Gas reports that 152,000 of their residential utility customers are more than 60 days past due on their utility bills. For customers to qualify for the program, they must first enroll in the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). Eligible customers may receive up to $300 in bill assistance.
"As the uncertainties of the pandemic continue to evolve, one thing that remains certain is our commitment to ensuring customers receive the safe, clean, reliable, and affordable natural gas they deserve,” said Nicor President and CEO.
