December 4, 2020 – The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) announced that beginning December 1, some vulnerable populations will be issued automatic LIHEAP payments to help with winter heating bills during the COVID-19 pandemic.
NCDHHS Secretary Mandy K. Cohen, said, “We want to ensure seniors and people with disabilities are healthy and safe during a difficult time of the year. More of our neighbors may be facing financial hardships because of COVID-19, and this funding can help eligible households with their heating expenses this winter.”
Other applicant populations are encouraged to submit applications online or submit paper applications through the mail, fax or drop them off at the local LIHEAP office.
