January 24, 2023 - The Office of Community Services (OCS) recently released a Dear Colleague Letter announcing that the LIHEAP Heating Season Toolkit is now available. This resource contains information intended to help OCS grant recipients and stakeholders ensure that available funding reaches households that need assistance with their heating costs this winter.
The toolkit provides outreach materials to help partners, stakeholders, and grant recipients reach eligible households. These materials include outreach flyers, a fact sheet on unsafe heating practices, a social media toolkit with suggested tweets and accompanying graphics as well as an animated video about LIHEAP heating services.
Also, the toolkit includes tools and guidance for LIHEAP grant recipients and stakeholders, these resources include a weatherization fact sheet, the OCS Disaster Flexibilities Hub and a link to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Climate Prediction Forecasts which can help inform grant recipient planning and assessment of winter heating needs in their service area. The toolkit is available in Spanish, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese.
