Powerful Opportunity Program (POP)
POP offers a discounted Budget Bill that will allow you to receive from $25 to $150 off your regular Budget Bill each month based on your energy usage, household size and income. POP has an arrears forgiveness benefit that allows your past due balance to be suspended from collection activity and paid off up to $2,400 over a 24-month period when you pay your discounted Budget Bill each month. POP customers are referred to EmPower New Yorksm, and provided with measures to reduce energy costs. To be eligible for POP, a customer must have a past due balance of at least $100, enroll in monthly Budget Billing and meet HEAP (Home Energy Assistance Program) income guidelines. Low-Income Energy Efficiency

Assisted Home Performance with ENERGY STAR®
Reduces energy costs of low- and moderate-income households by providing affordable energy efficiency improvements to households. Free home assessments and subsidies of up to 50% of the project cost, up to $5,000 per household are available for homeowners and renters. EmPower New YorkSM
Provides no-cost energy efficiency solutions to income-eligible New Yorkers. Meauseres include cost-effective electric reduction measures, particularly lighting and refrigerator replacements, as well as insulation, and health and safety measures. On-site energy use education provides customers with additional strategies for managing their energy costs. Eligibility is 60 percent of state median income. There is no cost to the customer. Emergency Charitable Assistance

The Good Neighbor Fund
For those suffering from a financial crisis that makes it difficult to pay their energy bills, Central Hudson's Good Neighbor Fund provides a "last resort" grant toward Central Hudson bills for customers who have exhausted all other forms of assistance. It is funded by customer contributions and Central Hudson's stockholders and is administered by The Salvation Army.

Orange County Fuel Fund
Orange County United Way accepts applications from persons who need assistance paying for their heating bills, from November 1 until mid May. Residents of the county can apply for a one-time grant, which will be paid, once approved, directly to the resident's heating provider. Call 845-457-4774 for more information.
