June 27, 2014 — The latest edition of the LIHEAP Clearinghouse's newsletter is now available online. The lead article profiles efforts to create an Arrearage Management Program in Maine following passage of a new law. The article provides an overview of the new statute and the actions being taken by the Maine Public Utilities Commission to comply with it.
The newsletter also looks at two recent publications that examine leveraging efforts for both LIHEAP and the Department of Energy's Weatherization Assistance Program. The two reports offer ideas that other states may be able to use to generate non-federal funds for the two programs.
The sidebar included with the Clearinghouse newsletter features links to our website regarding new information available. These new items of interest include: numerous Fiscal Year 2014 tribal plans; special reports on both LIHEAP crisis components and a look at pre-paid utility service's implications for LIHEAP; and issue briefs on both LIHEAP program integrity and LIHEAP administrative cost savings.
